Collage on Paper, 2015-2018
Created between 2015 and 2018, this collage series is built from found imagery, ephemera, vintage books, and magazines gathered during travels and thrift hunts. Stillness of Life reimagines the traditional still life through a lens of absurdity, humor, and fragmentation. With surrealist undertones and the anarchic spirit of Dada, these works embrace chance, contradiction, and play.
While the compositions carry a sense of intuitive freedom, they also begin to hint at a growing interest in structure, setting the stage for later works influenced by the formal rigor of the Russian avant-garde. This series marks an early and essential phase in Laura’s practice, where collecting, cutting, and composing became a mode of both rebellion and reflection.
