Mirrored Variations, 2018

In this early series, Jessie Laura uses mirrored surfaces to extend the visual logic of collage into a realm of spatial ambiguity and infinite reflection. Arranged as 90-degree diptychs, the mirrors multiply and reconfigure the compositions, creating a dynamic interplay between object, reflection, and viewer.

The forms, cut geometric shapes in subdued tones and textured patterns, hover between flatness and dimensionality, their configurations constantly shifting depending on one's vantage point. Each mirrored structure becomes a device for visual recursion, transforming static collages into perceptual events.

Mirrored Variations explores how repetition, reflection, and spatial framing can destabilize fixed meaning. It’s an invitation to engage with abstraction as something active and relational, a dance between precision and chance, between seeing and being seen.
